Children will learn to interact with other children and work
on their developmental skills while enjoying age
appropriate activities including learning stations, stories,
songs and nature arts and crafts. Let your child’s wonder of
nature be filled while learning and playing with friends. A

This program is designed to allow participants the chance
to explore nature and be outdoors. Activities include
animal studies, nature games, gardening projects, arts
and crafts and more. Participants should wear appropriate
shoes and clothing for outside play. The Nature Explorers
Club in April will be held at the Rebert Pike Nature Park for
an Earth Day Nature Walk. Parents must accompany the
youth on this event and the April program is Free.

 

YOUTH JUDO
Ages: 6-9
Tuesdays, March 11—April 8

Youth Judo is a basic beginners class, which focuses on
teaching the fundamentals along with discipline and respect.
Youth will participate in tumbling, rolling and basic judo
throws. Youth judo is designed in a non-competitive format
with a focus on fun. Pre-registration is required and space is
limited.

CHEERS AND CHANTS
Ages: 4-6
Thursdays, April 17 – May 22

Learn cheerleading techniques including jumps, chants, cheers
and more in this 6-week class. Wear comfortable clothing and

CHEERNASTICS

This class will focus on the most popular skills cheerleaders use
including cart-wheels, round-offs and more. This course also
includes cheerleading techniques including jumps, chants,
cheers and dance. Please wear comfortable clothing and tennis

BOUNCING BUCKAROOS
Ages: 3-5

This class is geared toward little boys and incorporates
jumping, bouncing and tumbling into fitness. Participants will
enjoy 30 minutes of silly games, tunnels, parachute, obstacles
and more in this six-week class. Class size is limited.
 

FLASH’S GARDENING PROGRAM

Youth will enjoy hands on project based learning in the
NTPRD gardens while participating in fun activities and
games. They will learn about seeds, how plants grow and
wildlife in the garden during this hour long after school
program. Participants should dress appropriately for the
outdoors.

 

CREATIVE CRAFTERS - KIDS’ EDITION
Ages: 8-13

Kids will have fun creating handmade decorations and
keepsakes while making new friends. This program will
provide instruction on basic crafting skills and all supplies
will be provided. Crafters are encouraged to wear
old clothes or bring an apron. Crafters will also
make a piece that will be eligible for entry in our
Parks Portrait Competition.

 

PARK PORTRAITS - AN ART COMPETITION
Grades K-12
Entry Submission: NTPRD Administration Building
Entry Deadline: April 30
FREE
Participants can draw, sketch or paint their way into this
competition. Each piece of artwork must be of something in our
local natural environment or of an activity or scene from one of
our local parks. Each entry must be a single work of original
art created by the contest entrant. By entering the contest,
entrant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the
submitted artwork is an original work created solely by the
entrant, that the artwork does not infringe on the copyrights,
trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or
intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no
other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the artwork.
The artwork must not, in the sole and absolute discretion of
NTPRD, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually
explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.
The entries in each age group will be judged separately in
three different categories
by grade K-3, 4-8 & 9-12.
Prizes will be awarded to
all winners. All entries
must be submitted and
received by April 30, by
5:00 p.m. to 1301 Mitchell
Blvd, Springfield.

Join us to celebrate and acknowledge the wonderful works of
art that were entered in the Parks Portrait Competition by the
youth of our community.
