Wild About Nature Day

Celebrate outdoor play with nature educational activity stations, crafts, fun and more. Learn about the wildlife that lives in the area. Meet live foxes and feed grapes to deer. All activities are free at this great family event.

 

One Enchanted Evening
Before the clock strikes midnight on Oct. 24 starting at 6:00 pm a FREE magical event will take place called One Enchanted Evening. Meet at the pumpkin carriage for a royal unveiling at Veterans Park in Springfield. Cinderella and Prince Charming will join event goers and take photos. There will also be free hot dogs (while supplies last), entertainment, a Halloween costume contest and horse-drawn carriage rides. To close the evening out, the original Disney's Cinderella will be shown at an outdoor movie event that evening.The movie begins at dark (around 7:30 pm) and will be shown under the stars on a huge, inflatable screen with a state of the art projection and sound system. So grab a blanket, lawn chair, family and friends. Make sure you keep an eye for local food trucks at this event. Family Fun Hayride

This annual program provides fun for the entire family. Enjoy a hayride, refreshments, a Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt and more at this free program, sponsored by the National Trail Parks and Recreation District staff employees.

 

Talkin’ Baseball

“Talkin Baseball”, the Hot Stove Baseball discussion    program, will begin its 5th year on Wednesday, November 5. The season’s first session will include a  review of the 2014 baseball season. The monthly trivia contest will be held, snacks will be served and attendees are encouraged to bring a baseball book or video for free exchange. This program is presented by the Springfield / Clark County Baseball Hall of Fame.

 

Owl Prowl

Learn interesting facts about Ohio’s most common owls, where they live and how they are important to our environment. We will walk through Snyder Park and call these magnificent creatures and listen for them to respond. Please dress warm. Pre-registration is recommended.

Looking for a unique gift for your child’s teacher or babysitter or maybe a little something nice for yourself? Come to the Miracle on Mitchell Holiday Open House. This event is free and open to the public and will feature many different items from  local vendors. Great way to get a jump start on (or maybe finish) your holiday shopping.

HUNGER DRIVE GAMES

The District of National Trail Parks & Recreation is calling all tributes to volunteer for the 1st Annual Hunger Drive Games, a battle for last man standing. The games, in partnership with the Second Harvest Food Bank, offers a great family friendly event. Tributes will be placed in appropriate age groups to battle in an arena set up at Snyder Park. Tributes will receive a long sleeve game shirt and drawstring bag with paid registration. Prizes will be awarded to all winners. Compete in the Hunger Drive Games and Help Fight Hunger!

Games Held: Saturday, November 22
Registration Deadline: Friday, November 14
Location: Snyder Park
Ages: 6 - Adult (participants will be placed in appropriate ages)
Registration Fee: $40 with no donation or $25 with donation of 10 non-perishable PROTEIN food items (peanut butter, canned meat, canned fish, beef stew, etc.)
