Summer Letterbox Adventure

June 9 through  August 29


Be part of this fun and educational adventure. Learn more about our local parks and history of Clark County. Pick up a Summer Letterbox booklet, beginning June 9, and find clues that will help you to find the letterboxes hidden at local destinations. Return the completed booklets to NTPRD and be eligible for prizes. Booklets will be available at  National Trail Parks and Recreation District, The Clark County Park District, The Heritage Center and the Clark County Public Libraries.


Truck Fest

This FREE event allows “Kids” of all ages to climb in the cabs, honk the horns and check out many different sizes and styles of trucks, cars and service vehicles as well as meet the people who operate them.  This fun filled event is sure to have something for everyone.


Old Fashioned Fireworks

Gates Open at 6:00 pm

Clark County Fairgrounds


Celebrate our country’s independence at the 20th Annual Old Fashioned Fireworks. In addition to the fireworks, a country music concert will begin at 7:00 pm and is sponsored by WHIO - K99.1 FM. The gates for this alcohol free event will open at 6:00 pm and the fireworks will begin at dark (approximately 10:00 pm). Please enter the Clark County Fairgrounds using Gate A-1 on Route 41. This event is free to everyone and       organized by the National Trail Parks and Recreation District. This event would not be possible without the generous support of area businesses and community members. Rain date for event will be July 6.


Prairie 101 Walk

Learn about native prairies and how valuable they are to our environment as we walk along the Buck Creek Trail. Find out  plans for re-establishment of prairies in NTPRD parks on this one-hour long walk.


Wild About Nature Day

Celebrate outdoor play with nature educational activity stations and more. The program “Hunters of the Sky” will be presented at 10:00 am where you can learn about and see falcons, hawks and owls. Look for macro invertebrate in Buck Creek. All activities are free and a great family event.
