Healthy Ohioans Healthy Community Award    August 2006

Clark County, Ohio, was one of three communities awarded a Gold Award by Healthy Ohioans – Small Step, Big Strides, a division of the Ohio Department of Health, in August. The Healthy Ohioans--Small Steps, Big Strides is a multi-year, statewide health and wellness initiative of Governor Bob Taft and the Ohio Department of Health to increase awareness of the importance of healthy lifestyles and to change unhealthy habits for healthy ones--one small step at a time.

The National Trail Parks and Recreation District received three "Outstanding Awards"    (2005)

from the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association  (OPRA) at their Annual Convention in Cincinnati on Wednesday, February 8, 2005.  An "Outstanding Award" is the first place award given in 21 Categories. Meritorious (second), Excellence (third) and Honorable Mention Awards were also presented in each category.



NTPRD received these awards in three categories: 

 

# 7 Facilities - $1,000,001 to 5,000,000 for the Carleton Davidson Stadium

 

# 17 Law Enforcement Award-Park Law Enforcement for the Junior Ranger Program

 

# 21 Management Innovation/Special Projects Award for the Hall of Fame Museum

 

OPRA members from throughout Ohio were eligible to compete for these awards and over 120 entries were judged in the 21 Categories. A listing of all winners from around Ohio is available at www.opraonline.org.


The three awards are the most by any single agency in 2004.  

 

 

 

The Ohio Parks and Recreation Association presented two Meritorious Awards to the National Trail Parks and Recreation District at the Annual Conference in Columbus    (2004)

The District was honored with a Meritorious Award in the Category of Facility Development ($500,001 to 1,000,000) for the Administration Building at 1301 Mitchell Blvd. The building which opened last October houses the administrative offices of NTPRD.
A second Meritorious Award was presented in the Category of Management Innovation/Special Project for the District Grant's Program which distributed $1.3 million to local villages and townships for capital projects in their local parks.

For the second year in a row the District has received two annual awards from OPRA.

The National Trail Parks and Recreation District received the “Excellence in Youth Sports Award” in January 2001 at a ceremony in Orlando Florida. The award which is sponsored by Athletic Business Magazine, National Alliance for Youth Sports, and iSignUpNow.com, is given to five departments who exemplify excellence in youth sports programming.
